Today’s post is sort of a “part one of two” gig. Part one, today, is all about the chocolate. Part two, which will be on Monday, will be all about the photography. If you are struggling at home with your blog photography, I’m (hopefully) going to make you feel better about it with a few insights into post processing! But on to the chocolate. These
Cranberries in a Bowl
This is an outtake from shooting cookies today. Cranberry Chocolate Chunk Cookies actually. I’ll post the rest of the photos and the recipe next week but I’m still working on shooting the actual cookies (I ran out of light after doing the prep shots and actually baking them). They’re good. But, really, how hard must one fail to make lousy cookies? I mean, that takes
Beer & Butter Tarts
So not only did the site get a facelift this week to kick off the New Year but, it’s also been accepted by Beer and Butter Tarts! I received the acceptance letter this morning and am excited to share the news! Beer and Butter Tarts “is a food blog aggregator dedicated to the food and drink scene across Canada”. They are also presenting the 2010
Some Fun in the Sun
This is just some fun. I’ve actually been working more than I expected to the past 7 days, including over the weekend, so baking and cooking has had to take a backseat. Thank God my freezer is stuffed to the gills. We won’t be starving, that’s for sure. Last Friday was an absolutely gorgeous day here on the west coast – kind of an anomaly.
Choxie Bars!
Ok, here’s one more in my long list of confessions: Choxie Chocolate Bars. I heart them. My friend Michelle, who I think is secretly trying make me gain about 100lbs, is always buying me boxes or bars of specialty chocolates for birthdays or Christmas. Choxie first appeared on the scene a few years and I fell in love before I even tasted them. The packaging
Pomegranate White Chocolate Chunk Cookies
For the first time, I decided to bake something for this blog expressly because I wanted to photograph it, not because I wanted to eat it. I stumbled across the recipe for Pomegranate White Chocolate Chunk Cookies on the Two Peas and Their Pod site (great site if you’re a foodie, by the way) and immediately wanted to take a crack at shooting these babies.
Almonds, Coconut and Eggs…
I’m a busy bee right now, working on three new posts for y’all. I also just installed Adobe Lightroom for the first time and I’m trying to figure it out (my brand new Lightroom 3 book arrived in the mail this morning which got me motivated – love boxes in the mail!) and get a new post processing workflow underway. It might take me a
Christmas Cookies!
We had our first snowfall here on Thursday/Friday and that can only mean one thing: Christmas Baking! I know a lot of my American counterparts are still working on Thanksgiving menus, but us Canadians are way past that! Bring on the chocolate and candy canes! Oh my goodness… I’m all about the exclamation points today! Ok, first things first… Eyes Bigger Than My Stomach is
Food Photography Tips and Tricks?
The other day, a friend told me that my food pictures here on the blog looked like I’d stolen them! Now, obviously, the photos are mine and he knows that – he meant it as a compliment and I certainly took it as one! I get asked a lot about how I go about taking my food pictures and the gear I use. The truth
