I kind of liked doing Wordless Wednesdays the last few weeks and even though I seem to be shifting out of my funk, I thought I’d keep doing them. It lets me share photos that might not be about food. This week, in the spirit of summer fair season coming and the notice that the PNE is hiring their fair staff, here are some photos
Wordless Wednesday: Italian Style
From a trip to Granville Island market last week – some fresh artichoke and sundried tomato ravioli from Zara’s Italian Deli and Cannoli from Stuart’s Bakery. And the heliotrope at the bottom smells like cherry pie so it gets included.
Wordless Monday
I know… it’s supposed to be Wordless Wednesday… with all the “w” letters… it’s clever, right? But whatever… I have other things planned for Wednesday. Or maybe Thursday. We’ll see how the week goes. At any rate… I’m pretty much never wordless so it’s not even a wordless Monday. What it is, is “A Bunch of Pictures Monday”. Because, I have a bunch of pictures.
Getting Outta Dodge – The Sunshine Coast
Last weekend, I needed to escape. I really didn’t care where or how or with who, if anyone. I don’t remember the last time I had a full day off from work. I was tired, pretty cranky and feeling like I was verging on crossing that line between simply overworked and burning out. So you can imagine, I was pretty pleased when Ethan from Tastes
The One With the Anti-Valentine
[pinit] Valentine’s Day. I got some of the old school candy hearts from the lovely folks at The Candy Aisle and I had to do something fun with them. I had no cinnamon hearts this year to make cinnamon heart art, as I usually do. So candy heart art it is! Something all soft and pretty and girlie is sorta what I was going for.
A Day With Joe McNally and Light
There’s not much that will get me out of bed early on a Sunday morning – especially a dark, rainy Sunday morning that should be spent curled up under the duvet. But, a day learning from one of the world’s master photographers, Joe McNally, well, that’ll do it! If you’re a photographer, you already know who Joe is. If you’re not, go check out his
Gung Hei Fat Choi – Happy New Year!
Yesterday, me and my chum, Ethan, decided to head out for a belated birthday lunch (E’s birthday, not mine) and maybe do a little photo prop shopping while we were at it. We thought we would check out the newly resurrected Save-On-Meats diner on West Hastings. For those of you unfamiliar with Save-On-Meats you can watch the story of how restauranteur Mark Brand is trying
Confessions
Lately, things seem to be very repetitive out in the blogosphere and life in general. This is my tongue in cheek (for the most part) commentary on it. 😛 The photos are totally unrelated. They’re just photos I’ve taken that I love. I think I may be the only food blogger on the planet who didn’t do a recap of 2011 post. I don’t see
The Candy Aisle
I don’t think it comes as any surprise to anyone who follows along here that I have a sweet tooth, especially for chocolate. Who doesn’t like chocolate?? Crazy people, that’s who. I was lamenting missing London and English treats and lo and behold, Sean from Sean’s Adventures in Flavortown came to my rescue by suggesting I check out The Candy Aisle on Robson Street the
Gingerbread Lane at the Hyatt
After our dinner at Kin Resto Bar the other night, my friend, Rosalie, and I decided to stop in at a Vancouver Christmas tradition: Gingerbread Lane at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Featuring some incredibly detailed and inventive creations from Vancouver pastry chefs, culinary students at both the post secondary and high school level, and talented amateurs it’s a fun way to get in the Christmas
