Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

  • 1kg cubed stewing beef
  • 2 cups diced onions
  • ¾ cup beef broth (I didn't have any and used some emergencey beef oxo - it worked)
  • ½ cup dry white wine (red will also work)
  • kosher salt
  • pepper
  • 1½ cups of frozen green beans
  • 1 tub (250g) soft herb and garlic cream cheese - stir it up well so it's really creamy and smooth like yogurt (I used light cream cheese)
  1. place cubed beef, onions in slow cooker
  2. sprinkle with kosher salt and pepper to taste
  3. add beef broth and wine, cover and cook on low 6-8 hours. (I let it go for 6.5 hours)
  4. stir in frozen green beans in the last half hour of cooking
  5. stir in the cream cheese in the last 10 minutes of cooking
  6. serve with pasta or rice and some crusty bread for sopping up the juices
