If there is one time of year I love in Vancouver more than any other, it’s cherry blossom season! It starts in March and runs through to May. It’s showy and pink and white and soft and frothy. It starts with tiny early blossoms and goes on through to the late blooming double blossoms and all through it there is pink snow fluttering down and pooling around curbs.
In the older parts of the city, that haven’t been ripped down for glass condos or mega houses, the trees line the streets forming pink arches for blocks. It’s the most beautiful site to see.
This year the trees are early. They started blooming in February and my big fluffy tree that usually flowers in late April or early May is just at the peak of blossoms. So I’ve been picking massive bouquets and taking loads of photos. Nothing gets my creative juices going and makes me crave my camera like these pretty flowers!
But no matter – the season is all too short and all that’s left are a few petals. And so I soak every ounce of it in while I can.
Because they just make me happy 🙂
