This is a short post today. I just wanted to let you know that for the next 100 days I’ll be participating in #The100DayProject that’s put on by The Great Discontent.
What is The 100 Day Project? It’s 100 days of creating using the same action. The goal is not the finished product each day, it’s the process. Showing up every day to do the work.
I’ve said it so many times but I will say it again. Everyone is creative. Every. Single. One. Of. Us. I truly believe that with all my heart. But there is a difference between being creative and being skilled. Skills take practice – day in, day out.
I think what happens is many of us try to write one day, or pick up a pencil to draw, or sit down at a piano to write a song… and it’s total and utter crap. And so we think to ourselves that we suck and we’re hopelessly uncreative.
No, no, no. We’re just not skilled! And so, that’s why 100 days of doing the same creative action is a challenge – it’s not about perfection. It’s about doing.
I’ve decided to do 100 days of 10 minute doodles. Mostly because I think it’s achievable for me and also because i have a tendency of agonizing over completing any kind of artwork. I’ll be setting a timer each day and whatever I come up with is what I come up with.
As per the project’s guidelines, I’ll be sharing my doodles on my Instagram account along with 1000s of others who are participating with their own unique action. My personal project hashtag is #100Daysof10MinuteDoodles and the main project hashtag is #The100DayProject. Whether you choose to participate or not, i’m sure you’ll see some really cool stuff if you check out the main hashtag from time to time – seeing what others create is one of the things I’m most excited about!
Will you be taking part? Please leave me a note in the comments if you are – I’d love to check out your 100 Day Project!
I love seeing your doodles (and other people’s doodles) because I don’t doodle, or rather when I doodle, I draw amino acids, lol! But there’s aren’t enough amino acids to do 100 days of them.
Today, your blog doesn’t think I’m a robot! Hooray!
yay! (ps. maybe you could create doodles AROUND amino acids!)
I’ve not officially signed up but I have been doing a similar challenge with my writing. I hit 140 days recently. It would be nice to make another 100.
I’m looking forward to seeing your sketches! They’re always so colourful.
