Today is a special day because, first of all, it’s Eyes Bigger’s very first birthday! A whole year has gone by and my little bitty blog is one! What started out as a bit of a lark so friends could see my food photos quickly turned into therapy, then into a world of opportunity to meet some wonderful new people and have some amazing experiences come my way.
Who’d a thunk it? Not this chickie!
It also, by pure coincidence, happens to be my birthday! And I’m long past a year old. Sigh… I prefer not to think about it… My bestest chum unexpectedly came into town this weekend with her daughters… my two sweet little bugs that only yesterday were cuddled up next to me with their storybooks begging me to read to them. The oldest is 12. She’s a teenager in every way. How did that happen? I wanted to squash her down with my hand so she won’t be taller than me next time I see her (because she will be).
Anyhooo… Today is a photo post. A celebration of another kind. A wedding. One of my oldest chums tied the knot with her handsome sweet fella last month in Banff. I, of course, had my camera. No scenic photos this post, but they will come soon… this is pure love and happiness and friends in a beautiful setting.
The photo at the top was taken on the group pub night before the wedding. Shooters called chocolate cake. We all had waaaaaaaay too many of them and some of us… did not fair too well the next morning. Be happy these pictures are somewhat in focus…
- the bride, my lovely friend Shell and the maid of honor, Karen
- drink enough chocolate cake and you see Karen in duplicate… Karen and Karen
- my road trip partner Karen and the bride.
- the best man and the groom… that cowboy hat made the rounds… it’s possible there is a photo of me wearing it somewhere… but you’ll never see it.
Ok, enough of all this… let’s get on with the party….
And eat some cupcakes!
my two favourite photos of the night:
When we were younger, much younger, people asked us constantly if we were sisters. Twins even. We never really saw it. When I was post processing this photo, I saw it. This face… with the curled up lip in concentration. That’s my face. I do it when I’m deep in thought or concentration without even knowing it… Shellybean, I loves you 🙂
The best man was, and still is, an enigma to me… and I love this photo. Spur of the moment snap through the window… he was inside and I was outside. The night was done and so was he.
